why yoji exists
my name is andrew. i started yoji because i strive to build a community for people who are learning japanese, the same way i am.
四字熟語 (yojijukugo) are four character compound words, often with idiomatic meaning and layered expression. with thousands of kanji and multiple meanings for each one, the possibilities are close to endless. how many feelings, emotions, and ideas can you express with just 4 characters? yoji was built on exploring that.
every character has a story, and every learner deserves to wear theirs.
learning a language can feel like a solitary journey. hours of flashcards, textbooks, talking to yourself.
yoji exists to change that. i'm building a space where japanese learners at every level can find common ground, share culture, and make the language their own form of expression. a place where curiosity is the only requirement.
